The playoffs are under way and we came out on the wrong end of a 15-4 score. We've been playing well to end the season, but unfortunately that didn't carry over to last night's game. I don't think we were nervous or anything like that. Instead, I think we were guilty of trying to do too much. We've had alot of success against Calgary's starters over the last 2 weeks, and I think we might have been overconfident. Sergent pitched a great game for Calgary and we didn't make the adjustment. Hopefully tonight will be different, but our hands will be full going against the probable pitcher of the year Isaac Hess. But it's the playoffs and anything can happen. |

After the 2008 season, I decided to move back to my home state of Ohio. For some reason, I had the crazy idea of leaving the nice, warm weather in sunny Florida to brave the fierce winter of Central Ohio. There were several reasons, none of which I will explain here. However, one bright side to this move was the opportunity to take classes at Ohio State to get closer to earning my degree. I already have a B.S. from the University of Central Florida, but ever since I left OSU early back in 2000, I've wanted to finish. Being so close to OSU for the first time in 9 years, I figured now was the time to do it. |

As well as a baseball player, I am also the Baseball Development Director for Exact Sports. It is a year-round position, but it does not affect me playing whatsoever. I am very excited about this opportunity to not only work in sports, but to help others in the pursuit of their dreams. Basically, think of Exact Sports as like the NFL Combine, only our tests are more in-depth and geared toward athletes of all ages in all sports. Our team of scientists then use this information to create a single, complete picture of an athlete's potential for success both on and off the field. For players, this is a great way to make your name and skills known to coaches and scouts everywhere. For coaches, we take the guesswork out of tryouts or projecting a player's potential. It's also a great way to identify your current players' strengths and weaknesses so the proper training and instruction can be given. |

From now until the end of the baseball season, I will be giving baseball lessons at Telus Field in Edmonton. Lessons will be offered to kids ages 8-22. Instruction will focus on the proper mechanics of the professional swing. Instruction can also be given in other areas (defense, pitching, baserunning, bunting) at your request. For the more advanced player, I will go into detail on the finer aspects of the game including training secrets, professional drills, and the proper mental approach to the game. |

The Hometown Homers Foundation is a charitable fund that I am in the process of setting up. The basic premise is I will raise money through various means and then give away that money to deserving causes. Money will be raised through different events at baseball games, private donations, silent auctions of autographed memorabilia, a golf outing and others yet to be determined. |
